Clint Dempsey’s Goal of the Year?

Watch it and be the judge:

Three quick thoughts:

1. That strike is world-class in every sense of the word. Most people in the world couldn’t throw a ball in to that tiny of a space from that distance, let alone kick it in on the fly. If this were some other USMNT players, I’d be tempted to attribute this to a good player hitting a fluky goal. But with the season Dempsey is having, one has to believe he could replicate this goal if need be. Hopefully, he continues his peak performance.

2. This goal, which came in the closing minutes of a game when down 3-1, and a game where many Fulham players may well have been looking towards the locker room, visually lifted his teammates. That strike was evidence of the heart Clint Dempsey has always possesed and the leadership he has developed. Dangerous combination for any foes of the USMNT.

3. Did that one boot alone vault Dempsey into transfer rumors? Nah, but it was still cool as hell.
